Thoughts about New Announcements

This post is pure speculation and very opinionated. It doesn’t contain anything new, so don’t pick at it too hard! Make sure you read the previous post first, or you might be lost.

There’s been a fair bit of discussion about 3rd classes as making trans characters obsolete. I don’t think 3rd classes will be unballanced. Stat and level progression is said to occur differently above level 99 and the skill and status formulas will be reworked. Gravity has mentioned quest skills for trans, possible expansion in thier abilities, and even if that doesn’t hit almost all the ep 11.3 equipment is almost exclusively bound to trans characters. A Warlock for example would be unable to use say, staff of piercing, the +25% matk staffs, or other matk gears like glove of orleans (not to mention can’t use myst amp). In addition, even if 3rd classes can ultimately surpass trans in power, we have no idea on the requirements or what it takes to become one, or the difficulty to level them (from the sounds of things they will require more exp than trans).

The new WoE system looks rather interesting. Fewer but larger forts will encourage larger alliances to be formed. The removal of warp portals kills the precast system, and the gates prevents godly equipment stacked players from simply bypassing defence to destroy the emperium. From the looks of things, the strategic points are areas that must need to be captured to progress. One possible scenario would be that the attacking team would need to hold one or both strategic points in order to approach the emperium or destroy the gates. The new system seems in depth enough that the actual act of sieging a fort could take the entire durration of woe. No longer would all the ‘important’ battle occur durring the last 10-20 minutes. And finally, they will likely have a new reward system for the new war of emperium. I can’t wait to see what it is.

I like the look of the instanced missions. I refer to them as missions because they don’t appear to be dungeons as such but specific challenges. The description seems to suggest that the instance system will be used to create specific challenge events with special rewards. The closest thing in game to this right now is the Izlude Team Arena mode, although that doesn’t seem to compare to what they want to do with the system. It looks really exciting.

The bound items I don’t think are anything to be really worried about. I think gravity wants to make it so item rewards from quests, be it the hugel races, the future Pvp 2/Woe 1.5 or instance missions, so they couldn’t be sold. I doubt they will ever make ‘bind on pickup’ type items that drop from normal monsters. I think it will be exclusively used for quest rewards. Its nothing new, some items are already account bound, such as all kafra shop items, and certain quest items such as The Sign. There will simply be more of those.

And finally, some people have been grumbling about the loss of the city Morroc. I doubt that the city will actually be lost. It will probably exist like the nameless island does now, after a certain set of events you can access an alternate version of the city. I doubt they would go so far as to completely remove morroc, as that would break many existing quests.
